Pilgrimage with the Wirrarika, Mexico

Today there are only very few indigenous cultures who were able to preserve their tradition for millennia and live as authentically as the Wirrarika (Los Huicholes). During their annual pilgrimage to the holy desert in the highlands of Mexico on their path of the spirit (power) the shamans get initiated into the mysteries of their creation myth and are reborn as embodiments of their deities and ancestors, as „Mara'kate" women and men of wisdom.

These are the still living magicians of the ancient Mexico, they enable the access to the visions of power and the discovery of your own destiny.

Absolutely unique to the western world is the possibility to join the voyage of initiation, the quest for spiritual fulfillment, to go on a pilgrimage with the Wirrarika people in sisterly and fraternal cohesion. For the first time it is possible to build a bridge between the modern world and the indigenous culture of the Wirrarika for the healing of our Mother Earth and the expansion of the collective consciousness.

By the gathering of the Wirrarika and people of the western world we dream the shamanic vision of a new reality; it reveals the connection between Mother Earth, the cosmos and the single individual as a harmonious entity and an ongoing expanded consciousness arises.

By the participation in this pilgrimage we support the preservation of the ancient Wixárika tradition and raise awareness for the destruction of the holy territory of Wirikuta which is threatened by mine concerns.

Together we travel with the Wirrarika people, experience the holy hunt of the hikuriu in Wirikuta in the quest for visions and spiritual wisdom. Throughout the nights in the contexts of rituals we will experience the birth of the sun and the purification of a personal rebirth. With the pilgrimage we find ourselves on the path of our heart, a path of power and transformation.

Our Journay will start in Mexico City, from there we will go directly to the Sierra Madre Occidental. We will spend much time in nature, it is therefore advisable to equip yourself well with sleeping- bag, rucksack, warm things for the nights and light things for the days. Since the sun is very strong in this region sufficient sun protection should also be provided.

We will go to sacred places, hold ceremonies and rituals there and prepare for the pilgrimage together. The Wirikuta pilgrimage starts together with the indigenous Wixárika Jicareros. We are invited to participate at the rituals and ceremonies carried out by the Jicareros during the pilgrimage and to go as a pilgrim onto the way to Wirikuta, into the heart of Mexico, into the heart of Mother Earth. In Wirikuta we will chase the sacred deer Kayaumari in form of the Hikuri in a magical and visionary way and meet ourselves in the heart of our own. We will witness the ceremonial activities which will be carried out by the Jicareros during and in conclusion of the pilgrimage.

After our return from Wirikuta we will be given further possibilities to take part in ceremonies. It is also possible to undertake further activities e.g. a trip to the Caribbean to come to know further highlights of ancient Mexico (Chichen Itza, Tulum among others). Additional options are ceremonies at the Mazatecs or jungle tours. We like to help with it.
